2018 GCV Fellowships Begin

The annual fellowship sponsored by the Garden Club of Virginia has officially commenced for 2018.

Mary Fesak (pictured left) has been selected as the Rudy J. Favretti Fellow, to study Sherwood Forest Plantation in Charles City. Mary will receive a Master’s in Historic Preservation this year at Clemson University with the College of Charleston. She is currently a graduate assistant with the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture in Charleston and has recently received the Graduate Student Research Fellowship from SESAH – the Southeast Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians.

Penelope Cottrell-Crawford (pictured right) is the William D. Rieley Fellow for Shirley Plantation, also located in Charles City.  Penelope comes to us with exceptional research and writing skills. She is currently a Master’s candidate in Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona.
