Stratford Hall

R estoration of an 18th century garden as revealed in part through archaeological work was completed in spring 2019. The garden layout with new brick edged aggregate paths was based on an intriguing garden plan found in Thomas Jefferson’s papers (although not in his hand). Vegetables, flowers, and plants appropriate to the period provide seasonal interest as well as food for the dining room at Stratford Hall. Specialized topiary pruning of two rows of yews into flat-topped obelisks will take 3-5 years to maturity.
