A Cultural Landscape Report documents the evolution of the gardens on this property from 1795 to the present. The analysis of primary source material including photographs, drawings, and narratives uncovered on site, in New York City and in Philadelphia became the basis  for restoring the formal gardens laid out by the Vanderbilts during their tenancy from 1895 to 1938.
